Friends,
During my time in graduate school, I was struck when the philosopher, Roberto Unger, said in a lecture that: “Religion is supposed to be like a storm, taking us somewhere we didn’t want to go.” I’ve been reflecting on his words ever since. The more I sit with them, the more I feel their urgency in our world today.
At our next gathering at Bell Hall (Wednesday, October 8th, 7:30pm), I’ll invite you to contemplate this enigmatic teaching, as well as what role religion and spirituality might play in our search for meaning. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and maybe even a new friend.
A reminder that attendance is capped at 75 people due to fire code. It’s free to register, but please do attend if you RSVP. Starting next month, we’ll introduce a membership structure and modest price to attend these gatherings.
We look forward to being with you,
Thomas and the Lower Lights Team
