SPECTRA: A 9-Month Journey of Transformation
Spectra is an experiential training program that deeply engages consciousness, personal and collective evolution, and service to the world. Our curriculum draws from ancient Wisdom traditions, cutting edge psychological science and transformational group processes.
Our next cohort will begin August 2025
What is Spectra?
• Do you feel called to live life from a deeper, more authentic place?
• Would you like to be a part of a community that both challenges and supports you, all in service of your evolutionary growth?
• Do you seek a path that honors the gifts of your tradition (or non-tradition) while being open to all truth?
• Are you eager to engage trusted guides, mentors and elders who have walked the path of waking up and growing up?
Spectra guides participants through a dynamic integration of the sacred and the secular. Our curriculum is meant to be complementary to any tradition or belief system you hold. Over many years we have honed an approach to catalyze human potential through cohort learning; communities of practice which are about 25 people in size. Through the cohort experience participants come to express their unique gifts more fully in their lives. Participants also develop skill and leadership in the context of group life—how to listen for the unique voice of a collective and help guide it towards its higher purpose.

“Spectra is like a living laboratory in which to explore relationships and new ways of being. We get to notice our predictable patterns and intentionally experiment with a truer and more honest identity, all the while being supported and challenged by a community. It’s a chance to let go of what we think we are and, from a place of open wonder, allow a new self to emerge.” - Spectra 1 Participant

Lead Facilitator
Thomas McConkie
Over the last 25 years, Thomas has studied broadly across the traditions: from Hindu mantra meditation, Zen and Theravada in the Buddhist Wisdom stream, to the school of Integral Philosophy, as well as contemplative Christianity. In 2017 he founded Lower Lights School of Wisdom, a nonprofit organization and community dedicated to reimagining faith and human transformation in the 21st century.
In 2012 he began training in the unique style of cohort learning which Spectra represents. He is a certified researcher and debriefer in the STAGES model and uses his extensive expertise in adult development to guide his students on a unique path that fully integrates classical awakening and developmental maturity.
He is an author, public speaker, developmental coach and meditation teacher. Currently, he is working on his third book in the context of graduate studies at Harvard University: a detailed guide to waking up and growing up in the tradition of Integral Polarity Practice (IPP). Thomas was initially authorized to teach meditation under Shinzen Young in 2011 and is now the only master teacher of IPP under the guidance of John Kesler. His hope and vision is to train the next generation of contemplatives, embodying a deep sense of place in their local traditions with a heart open to Wisdom and Beauty, wherever they may find it.
