In meditation practice and in life, there is a natural tendency to seek pleasant experience and avoid what's painful. The Buddha named this condition directly: taṇhā—craving—the root of suffering.
What can come as a genuine surprise as we deepen on the path is that getting what we want does not necessarily bring happiness, and meeting what we don't want need not lead to suffering.
This is more than consoling philosophy. When we experience these truths directly, our motivation and perception shift at a fundamental level—something loosens that we didn't know was held.
In this gathering, we will explore the subtle, positive states that arise naturally in still point practice. And we will refine our spiritual palate to appreciate something even more fundamental: the taste of emptiness—a quality not rare or distant, but always already present, waiting to be recognized.
